How do students manage stress?

Students typically manage stress in negative ways: 

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Cramming

  • Poor eating habits

  • Alcohol cosumption

  • Misuse of prescription medications

  • Suicide/self-harm

 

All of these coping mechanisms can subsequently lead to the development of depression and anxiety disorders

 

 

Students are constantly dealing with issues such as: 

 

  • Making friends/roommates

  • Joining clubs

  • Assignments and due dates

  • Final exams

  • Juggling school and work

  • Financial aid and loans

  • Peer pressure to engage in illegal activities (drinking, drugs, etc)

  • Building a competitive resume to compete in the job market
